I'm currently in the final year of my Web Design and Development degree, I primarily focus on back-end development.
I love building data-driven, scalable websites working with APIs, databases and server-side technologies.
Recently, I've been trying to build on my front-end skills focusing on dynamic and user friendly interfaces.
Outside of developing and studying, I enjoy gaming, movies and exploring nature.
These are some of the technologies that I have experience and am comfortable with:
These are some of the projects that I have worked on during my studies and in my free time:
I was brought on to help develop and maintain the initial version of the site. This was an intranet system used for internal management in a gaming community. During the creation of the second version, I was solely responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the site. The site used Symfony as the back-end framework with Twig HTML as the front-end.
Due to my success and involvement in the first version, I was invited into the development team for the creation of the second version of the site.
This version aimed to tackle crucial security issues, redesign much of the functionality and enhance the user experience.
This version was being built with the Laravel framework and used blade templates for the front-end.
I was heavily involved in the initial development of the site and was responsible for the creation of many key features.
Due to personal reasons I had to step away from both versions of the site in 2022 but the work done on both versions has formed a large part of the foundation to the current version of the site which is currently active.
I am currently working on my honours project, which explores how web technology can be used to support the needs and lifestyle of individuals living with strict dietary conditions. The idea is to create a website that allows users to navigate the difficulty of finding suitable restaurant options that meet their dietary restrictions, the focus being on users with a Gluten intolerance or Coeliac Disease. The project is being created using node.js as the back-end and next.js for the front-end. This has allowed me to explore new technologies and expand my development skills.
As part of my portfolio creation, I undertook the task of redesigning one of my old college projects to explore how I have enhanced my front-end development skills. The website was for a fictional music band based in Glasgow called "Bluewater Music". The site was built in HTML and CSS. The site was redesigned to remove a very complicated and bold design and replace it with a more simple and clean version that is more user friendly.
